Honouring Our Healing & Wellness October 24 | 11am-2pm

Indigenous Services will be holding space in the Spirit Garden for Indigenous students and employees to engage with cultural practices for self-care and wellness. Practices such as smudging, drumming, crafting, and being on the land, all hold healing properties and a sense of belonging.

Please join us in exploring relationship with the land, water, plants and animals, as well as the reciprocal relationships between healing ourselves and All Our Relations. We will begin with drum medicine in the Spirit Garden where participants can actively learn about drumming and protocol (hand drums and big drum), including community songs for fun, healing and protection.

Participants will interact with diverse plant medicines used for smudging, share various smudging methods (including smokeless), and prepare smudge bundles for self-care. Idea-sharing for the incorporation of traditional food-medicines into our diets and daily lives will be highlighted.

Lunch, drinks, and tastings of traditional foods will be provided. This event is sponsored by I-SPARC and prioritizes Indigenous students and employees.

Please register in advance as space is limited. No fee required.
