Nation Government Leaders Request Form (Internal)

We have outlined the following questions based on our experience working with our Nation Government Leaders in a respectful way. Please let us know your expectations to help facilitate your request.

In an effort to maintain a streamlined and respectful process for Nation Government requests, we ask that the requests are made through Indigenous Services, with certain exceptions. Please contact us directly if you have any questions.

When requests are made collaboratively through Indigenous Services we work to ensure that the Selkirk College community as a whole receives the maximum benefits of their generosity of spirit and time and that we are not placing strain on these important relationships.

We require 6 - 8 weeks notice and longer for more complex requests. Although we try to support all requests, due to increasing requests and limited capacity we may not be able to fulfill all requests made.

Who is the designated Speaker's host (meeting them at the door, offering tea/water, showing them the Gathering Place, purchasing and providing a gift at the end of the visit - note: designated host is expected to remain with the Speaker for the duration of their visit unless another Selkirk College representative is arranged to meet them at some point during their visit)

If your school or department is unable to cover the full amount suggested, please indicate the amount you are able to provide. (We can examine funding options if this aligns with our program priorities and the Calls to Action of the TRC, the UNDRIP, and AEST directives, and can also benefit the wider Selkirk College Community.)
